The US Open meeting is the cleanest guide: Paula Badosa won 6-1, 6-4, and Daria Kasatkina converted none of her seven break points. Badosa’s depth and backhand pushed her onto the back foot; Kasatkina’s second serve gave her little cover.

Kasatkina’s next hard-court results have not answered that. She let a set lead go in Cincinnati, then lost the last seven games against Aliaksandra Sasnovich in Singapore. That is a form concern, not evidence of injury. Badosa also has leaks—eight double faults in her São Paulo semifinal loss—but her patience against Mary Stoiana’s slices and drop shots is a useful counter.

Badosa −3.5 games is the play. The near-even price is worth taking because a straight-sets win without a tie-break is a natural fit for this matchup. Badosa’s backhand troubled Coco Gauff, and she recovered from a set down against Jazmín Ortenzi; those are better signs than Kasatkina’s recent inability to sustain resistance.

The outright price is short, while the 20.5-game total has no clear edge: frequent breaks can mean quick sets or long ones. Badosa’s serve and closing tension leave room for a tie-break or a third set. That is the risk.
